Yes Please.
The GP2X is totally open to development from anyone, commercial or amateur. Yes really. We're heading back to the classic Amiga days of development.
With a free GCC/Linux/Windows based compiler and SDK you really can begin to make software and games for nothing, not only that - we will offer source code and guides to getting started.
For 3D content may we suggest the GPL Quake engine? Its 100% free to use for commercial as well as for fun. A rather nice gift from ID software, and which they themselves say has been amazingly overlooked, why not show us what you can do with it?
To chat with us about Commercial promotion of your games or porting/licencing/emulating games from other systems, please email us here.
Low on money but big on talent? Don't worry, we want to hear from you too! With the GP2X we are prepared to promote unique ideas and new games.
Downloads:
Already much has been ported to the GP2x, Quake, Duke3d, Neogeo, Hexen just to name a few, and many more are in the works. To download completed ports, games and utils goto the GP2X file archive.
To get started developing visit the GP2x Dev Wiki.
Those of you who want to chat about dev come to #gp2xdev on Efnet, one of the most active and popular dev channels on IRC.
There is now a Devkitpro for the GP2X for Windows & a toolchain for the Mac.
Raw hardware launcher and firmware is being worked on, beta versions are on the IRC channel.
